Walter Spitz - (Principal) Creative Designs in Lighting was established in 1978 by Walter Spitz. Walter gained a vast knowledge of lighting products through employment at a large lighting showroom. He then developed a “theatrical eye” by designing for the stage, including stage productions, musicals and dance. This knowledge, combined with a growing fascination in lighting, led him to study at Banff Center of Fine Arts under Laszio Funtek. Walter is an award-winning lighting designer, recognized across the country as a residential lighting expert. He is known for his ability to create warmth and intimacy through lighting and has a flair for drama and richness in detail. Mark Mueller, LC - (Lighting Designer) Mark was studying theatrical lighting in school when he became part of Creative Designs in Lighting’s team. Since 1995, he has been Walter Spitz’s understudy, learning the art of dramatic architectural lighting and he currently holds the LC credential from the National Council on Qualifications for Lighting Professions. Mark has been involved on a variety of project types, including country clubs, ballrooms, religious facilities, restaurants, movie theaters, and private residences. His experience includes design consultation, CAD drafting, and construction administration services, as well as theatrical product procurement. Mark Greenawalt, PE LC - (Lighting Designer) Mark graduated from Penn State University in 1989 with a B.S. in electrical engineering. Since then he has gone on to earn a professional engineering license in AZ, TX, NV and CA, while managing the electrical department of a consulting engineering firm. His flair for creativity of lighting design led him to join the CDL team in 2006 and he has since garnered the LC credential from the National Council on Qualifications for Lighting Professions. In addition to his technical achievements, he is an award-winning artist, musician and published writer. This balance has proven beneficial in working with architects and owners in developing dramatic and alluring lighting designs that take advantage of the latest technological advances. Kevin Flower, LC - (Lighting Designer) Kevin has been with CDL since May of 2002. His responsibilities include design consultation, CAD drafting, and construction administration services. He specializes in design, programming and troubleshooting lighting control systems in residential and commercial applications. Nikki Holt - (Lighting Designer) Nikki graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2007 with a Master of Architecture degree after receiving a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Arizona State University. While completing her degree she has gained professional experience at architectural and lighting design firms in Arizona and Georgia. In addition to residential and commercial lighting design, Nikki is also responsible for photometric studies and architectural renderings using advanced software programs. E-mail nikkih@cdltg.com.

Kate Ramon - (Lighting Designer - Landscape) Kate graduated from High Tech Institute in 1998 with an Associates Degree in Architectural CAD Drafting. Since she had experience in architectural and engineering fields before finding her passion in the dynamic and expansive landscape lighting industry. Working for an estate home and commercial landscape lighting design-build firm, Kate has gained a vast knowledge of landscape lighting systems through hands on experience. Brendon Smith - (Control Systems Specialist) Brendon interned at CDL while attending High Tech Institute of Phoenix. After graduating, he joined the CDL team full time as a CAD Operator responsible for production of lighting plans, schedules and details, etc., that are used for final construction documents. Since then he has moved into the role of lighting control system specialist responsible for construction administration, control system programming and startup, and finalization of the project. Aaron Hunt - (Associate Designer) Aaron joined CDL in 2007 with an extensive background in electrical, lighting design and product knowledge. With his strong artistic background, he brings an additional creative eye to the team. His background is in retail lighting sales, which aids tremendously in his knowledge of the most up to date and cutting edge lighting products and applications. Niki Madonia - (Associate Designer) Niki joined CDL in late 2006 as an office assistant. Since then she has moved into the CAD Department and has become an associate lighting designer. She brings with her over four years experience in design and architecture. Her responsibilities include production drawings, attending design meetings and overseeing projects through construction. Daniel Armijo, CD - (CADD Operator) Daniel graduated from High-Tech Institute in February 2007 with an associate degree in Drafting/CAD Technology. Upon graduating, he joined CDL and has quickly become proficient in the production of lighting plans, schedules and details. Daniel's other responsibilities include setting up CAD drawings from clients and maintenance of the plotter, paper, and inks. E-mail daniel@cdltg.com.

Scott Lindly - (Technician) Scott has been with the company since 1997. Before that he worked for an electrical contractor wiring custom home for four years. It is that electrical background along with his mechanical ability that makes Scott a valuable asset to the team. He heads up our onsite technical crew that adjusts and aims the lighting fixtures at the completion of the projects. Trevor Thompson - (Service Technician) Trevor leads the service department and assists our on-site technical crews with aim and focus of all adjustable fixtures once construction is complete and the furniture and art are in place. Lisa Kimes - (Controller) Lisa has been with Creative Designs in Lighting since 1999. She maintains the accounting side of the business. Her responsibilities include, but are not limited to, A/P, A/R, General Ledger, P&L, Financial Reporting, Month and Year End Closings, Payroll, Budgeting/Account Tracking, Taxes, Profit Sharing and various other Employee Benefits. Sandy Benash - (Executive Assistant) Sandy has been with CDL since 1996. Her responsibilities include preparing proposals and contracts, administrative support, and maintaining the marketing information. Sandy has worked in the design industry for over 20 years.
